As stated in a previous blog by Donna Moore:
"The recount fee for Mirr-Frank was
$5 which is dictated by state law. The City taxpayers will pay for the City attorney's fee for 2 hours and two election officials time for the recount meeting."
Another blogger suggested that Ms. Mirr pay for the City attorney fees and other costs as well. I have to agree that this is a good idea. The fact is that this was not a close election by any means! The original count was 45 and 60. How could anyone with a integrity or common sense consider that to be a close race? Mirr lost by a full 25%, not one or two percent. This is ridiculous. The recount was self-indulgent and simply unacceptable in my eyes. Aren't there guidelines for the acceptable use of the recount? As I taxpayer, I will say: THERE SHOULD BE.
Yet another classic example of waste in government.
You are a bunch of blow hards. The ballots were given out wrong to many voters and it was up to the voter to say something. Many did not so a recount is the least Mirr could ask for. Also the districts are all screwed up so many voters in her district may have received the wrong ballot. The poll workers probaly cost her the election.
There is absolutely no proof or evidence that the wrong ballots were given out to anybody. That is pure conjecture, as it stands, a total lie. The votes for Mirr and Jones totaled 105. I am sure that everyone knew who they were going to vote for when they went to the polls! How preposterous to suggest otherwise. For Mirr to get the idea that 25% of the vote was incorrect is ludicrous. If this is in fact the case, thank God she is no longer in city government.
This is slightly off topic, but does pertain to life in Green Lake. There are 4 new listings for Green Lake on the Wisconsin Registered Sex Offenders list.
http://offender.doc.state.wi.us/public/search/sor
While I am not an alarmist, and certainly believe in the Christian principles of forgiveness, these are convicted sex offenders nonetheless. I fully understand that not all convicted sex offenders are violent rapists, the category covers a wide gamut of activity, including consensual physical relations. What concerns me is the fact that the public is not informed of new "arrivals" to the community, and we are left unaware of the facts and circumstances. There is a common (professional) belief that sex offenders are incurable, and it is only a matter of time until they offend again. I believe this is true for certain offenders, not all.
As we are a small town and our children are not exactly street-wise, I think it is time for local parents to have another talk with their kids. What do you think about this subject?
Good luck Chuck! You had to break a tie twice in your first meeting with the new council. Watch out-THE EVIL CABAL is in control.
Ok, let's play twenty questions...
What or Who is the Evil Cabal? Do tell.
Thank you very much.
Latka Gravas go to a council meeting and you will find out. It will be very entertaining.
Okay..2nd question - what was addressed in the last meeting that required Mayor Chuck's vote to break the tie? The agenda posted on the city's website lists the items discussed but doesn't show which way the members voted. It would be nice to know the 'yays and nays'.
Latka Gravas read the Green Lake Reporter or the Ripon Commonwealth-April 23rd edition.
Oh, I like playing this game! Who's turn is it now?
Watch out for the EVIL CABAL.
Thank you very much, Simka...Now you've gone and ruined the game! I had only used two questions and now it's all over.
Funny, I never saw Evil Cabal's name on the ballot during the recent elections...Was he/she a write-in candidate? Must have done well since he/she now has the power to wreak havoc with our city government. I think we need another recount because if Cabal got elected there must have been some wrongdoings at the polls.
The Shadow knows.....ha ha ha ha!
I think the evil cabal has to be the 3 people who forced the tie votes last week to be broken by the mayor! Am I right Shadow?
City Gal you are very astute.
