Property accessments seem to have been done by an incompetent firm from Westbend, and they were messed up! What can be done to undue the damage NOW? For this present unfair bill?

Chief, could you please post a new thread about the Green Lake school possibly combining sports teams with Markesan? Apparently the school board plans to consider it at tonight’s meeting. This is going to be a huge issue. Would be interesting to know what everyone thinks.

To Anonymous - If you had a concern about your property assessment you could have attended the city hall meetings set up with the assessors for this purpose. After those meeetings, citizens could then appear before the Board of Review. That process is now over for this assessment period. The Board of Review handled any mistakes made by the outside Appleton firm that were brought to our attention.

This is a little off topic but is a tax concern. I I see that that the residents of Lake Street no longer have to shovel the end their driveways out because the City now plows all the snow to the center of the road and hauls the snow away. How much Does this B.S. cost us.
Wasn't the City having a tough time balancing the budget. I also noticed that most of the people who were complaining about how much snow was in their driveway have large snow blowers. What is the reasoning here. If all it takes is a little whining I want the snow removed from every street so everyone is treated the same.

To anonymous - The east side residents of Lake Street have had the snow from the total street plowed into their driveways since the sidewalks were put in many years ago. The side to the west has no real place to put snow since the sidewalk is so close to the street. We don't have many areas in the city with sidewalks. It was decided to be fair to the east side, that for small snowstorms, the street would be plowed as any other street is. However, for larger storms it would be plowed to the middle and removed. This winter is a test on how that works and at what cost.

Our real estate taxes went up 130 percent. We have an empty lot, not on the lake, and are asked to pay $ 4,000 per year in taxes. That does not make any sense. Our neighbor owns a million dollar house in Arizona and he pays only $ 3,000 per year in taxes. No wonder that when people retire they move away from Wisconsin.
