Its Here

Well I think I can say the official "let's make money while we can" time is here. The last 501 at the Goose Blind was last week. Even Mary Rowley had an apron on and Angie Meilen had her 30 birthday. I've had to stop at the top of Mill Street 3 or 4 times already while someone with out of state plates took a look around or was trying to decide if there was a stop sign there or just couldn't decide what to do, so they just stopped. Because who could be trying to get anywhere else? Our 4 month window of oppurtunity has arrived. Raise your prices now.

What a lovely way to "welcome" people to your town- I happened on this site while trying to locate information on Green Lake- guess I will be choosing to spend my $$ elsewhere this summer. I will make sure that your chamber is aware of your "marketing" efforts as well.
Maybe you should change your name to "Chief Ballbreaker".....

PLEASE ! Have you seen the shutters in the winter.....

Anonymous makes a good point, this blog is not good advertisment for Green Lake. You forget that millions of people have access to this blog. I bet we look really ridiculous to a lot of people.

This is usually a silly blog, like this post. But you did make a good point earlier regarding the difficulties created by enforcing the P. O. Box number on mailings here. It even creates problems for the Court House. If you are serious regarding your interest in Green Lake, follow up on this. Get some locals with a serious interest to talk to the Postmaster

What are you talking about you idiot?
This site is nothing to do with the chamber (I suspect you are).

This site is where people can voice their opinions without constraint....good or bad...all are welcome...that's what a blog is for. We'll really miss your two dollars this year...

What is really ridiculous is that people like the Chief are so darn miserable that they feel the need to express their unneeded opinion about everything - and in a negative manner. Is the lake half full or half empty? I hope people come to visit wonderful green lake and stop at the corner of mill street and hill street to take in the atmosphere. This is a great place to be - especially in the summer. Lighten up.

Express their unneeded opinion? Huh, then why are you here?....we sure as hell don't need your opinion. Give the guy some credt for having the balls to step up and give people an opportunity and venue to air their views.

After being here since 1972, there's only one place I know of that had two prices through out the year (summer and winter). We don't raise our prices during summer.

you know what they say about opinions....

Help, whatever are all you blabbing about? I have no idea what this BLAG is about. Please enlighten me someone. I can't always unravel riddles...

Have the prices gone up? I have not noticed.

I am not sure if prices in the restaurant/bar business have gone up yet. From working in the business, the restaurant I worked at used to raise prices in the summer.

This blog is not the welcoming committee for Green Lake. Have you never been to a blog site before? This is an opinion page! And YOU used it for YOUR opinion! So it is working.Thank you for not coming to our town- you seem to be someone that would complain anyway! We try hard to welcome people to our town- just walk into any establishment here and you will be greeted. Not like the big city- where I assume you are from.
So go to the Dells or Minaqua or any other big tourist trap in Wisconsin buy your t-shirt and your fudge etc and stay away from us. There will be more room for nice people to visit our great town!!

All I can say is this town has some people who crankier than I was aware of. I am sure the person who "happened on" this site while trying to locate information on Green Lake is full of it and knew about this site already. If you google this blog it won't show up anywhere. And as for telling the Chamber I would think they would want a link to this site. It has promoted more information on Green Lake than the Chamber ever has.

Lurker is right. It is hard to locate this blog if you don't have the address. I love the tattle tale tone the first anonymous has, "I am gonna tell the chamber on you..." Love it.

If a business wants to raise their prices in the summer, I can hardly blame them. If I owned a dining establishment and the fibbers were lining up to get in, I would do the same thing. Anyone who can afford $50 in gasoline to drive up to their summer home for a weekend can afford drinking at the Goose Blind in the summer. Special prices for us poor GL folk would be much appreciated though.

Bar prices should be high year round to keep the deadbeats out of town.

I'd be willing to pay more in the off-season so that the Fibbers didn't have to pay so much in-season.
It pains me to see those f*ckers getting ripped off.

Haven't you noticed everyhting cost more in the peak of summer... golf, boat rentals, gas, hotel rooms, etc. Why shouldn't the restaurants make a few extra nickles to pay those nasty winter fuel bills, so you can sit there in January. We should be happy so many food & drink establishments stay open all winter. It sure isn't for the huge profit they don't make that time of the year.
