Watching the Cubs Game

Its the bottom of the ninth, Cubs and Houston tied. I am trying to find election results for this blog so I can post Green Lake County election results. It is about 10pm on Tuesday. Just for the boredom of the whole process I checked out the Ripon Mayor's Blog. He already has the local election results posted. It is the definition of transparency in government. Really nice. Where does he get the results so quickly? I wish I had that easy access to results and why don't we..

Parise, Jones and Rowley won. Results came in about 10:20 p.m. last night.

WFRV.com has the results.

It is ridiculous how disorganized these elections results are. People should not have to hunt for them (unsuccessfully). The City does not bother to post them on their website, nor does the county. I happened by City Hall this morning about 7:30, hoping the results would be posted on the door perhaps, but alas...no luck. I had to check the Green Lake Inquisitor to find any answers! Congratulations, Chief! You are the official winner of the local election results postings. And I didn't even vote for you. Next time I will write you in.

Lets not be too critical of City Hall. They started working at 7:00a.m. and didn't finish until after 10:00p.m. I think they deserved to go home and not worry about the web site until the morning.

All the news and media outlets would gladly report Green Lake's election results if the proper officials would provide them. It is just another of the many points of disfunction that lingers here in GL.Who does GL think that they are. I believe they think they are on another planet. Poor workers at the city hall had to stay up past their bedtime. BOO HOO!

I agree, there really is no good excuse for not having the results posted on various websites after the tallies are counted. The poll workers work in shifts on election day. If staying up till 10:00 is so difficult for the people in authority, then they should plan their day to make sure that they are functional at 10:00 p.m.

City poll workers come in at 6:15 a.m. polls open at 7a.m. and the workers do NOT work in shifts they work until everything is done, which was almost 10p.m. I'm sure if you check with city hall you to could apply to work the polls.

I tried applying to work at the polls but they said you had to be at least an octogenarian to work there...talk about discrimination! When I walked in and told them my name one of the ladies shouted "BINGO". I was allowed to vote several times just by showing the poll workers my AARP card!
Give the poor poll workers a break...they did their best and everything is probably, mostly, kinda/sorta accurate!

Posting poll results in a timely fashion is a plus but it isn't the definition of government transparency. :)
