Lindenwood Development is indeed going full steam ahead with their "Estates of Lawsonia". They have begun the sewers and widened the road areas (more trees lost.
The important questions here are:
Why is the Town underwriting the Bonds for Lindenwood Development to build roads? Does the Town have to pay if/when Lindenwood goes backrupt?
Who will be buying these lots and building houses? Last time I checked we were in a recession/depression and many developers were practically giving land away so they wouldn't have to pay taxes.
Where is Lindenwood Development (Doug Crusan and Ted Dominowski) getting the money to pay for all of this? The sewers alone involved an outlay of $850,000+. Roads will be more - and they can't sell any lots until they get final approval - which the County says they won't give until Lindenwood reaches agreement with the Schools - which according to the Oshkosh Northwestern is not happening soon.
As I understand it, if Lindenwood defaults on the bond, the Town does not have to pay, but DOES lose its bond rating, meaning the next time the Town has to borrow, it will cost the taxpayers more.
Does anybody know who is financially backing Lindenwood?
I believe that in the future, as a community, we will regret the privatization of this last great scenic drive along the lake. It will be very hard to market Green Lake to visitors when they have so little access to the lake.

That last great scenic drive along the lake already is private. What part of that do you not understand about this development?
12:26 - you are the bone head! Yes, the drive is "private", but it has been open to those who wanted to enjoy it! The Green Lake area is getting worse than Lake
Geneva because we have less natural access to the then they do now! Poor planning on the part of GL city fathers over the years,

The ABA is a beautiful place that few of us have actually enjoyed for years. Most others never gave it a thought before the development fiasco.
Long story short, it's the ABA's land, they pay all the bills, they should be allowed to do what they want with their land. Just as you all should with any land you own.
The ABA gunslinger should be sent packing! Too bad the adm at ABA has the power they do because THEY do not OWN it, but seem to be trying to make themselves wealthy by what they are doing!
It’s good to see this project moving forward. As a Town of Brooklyn resident, I’m pleased with the expansion of our tax base. Furthermore, I’m glad the smoke-and-mirror charade of these “private homeowners” hasn’t stopped progress.
As many have pointed out these last two years, the land belongs to the Green Lake Conference Center. The Conference Center has a right to develop and sell that land if the overseers so choose. This is America, a free country, and most of us are getting mighty tired of a small (yet vocal) group of part-time residents tossing up red herrings about bald eagles, chestnut trees and anything else from their rear ends to delay the project. Their accusations have been debunked, which is why the local and county governments have finally granted preliminary approval after two years of dancing around.
These part-time “private homeowners” do not deserve any more credit or time on stage. These are the people who recently passed around a dirty little e-mail demanding an “all-out public relations blitz” against Chairman Mike Wuest when they realized people had stopped listening. Too bad their smear plan was exposed and the group was rightfully embarrassed.
Congratulations to the Town for securing this development and benefiting the tax base and local economy. May the whining of the Carpenter Lane gang be drowned out by hammers and saws.

Anyone thinking that ripping apart one of the most beautiful pieces of land in Wisconsin for development is a good thing, you are sadly mistaken. Especially since in this case it is to cover the debt caused by bad business and management practices over the years. This is a tragedy, pure and simple. Know that there are always consequences for actions. Nothing is ever going to right this wrong.
I'd like a little clarity on that line a post up about "THEY do not OWN it, but seem to be trying to make themselves wealthy by what they are doing!"
I personally know and trust a lot of the folks at the ABA, and their word is, no one is getting wealthy off this. The land sales are going back into scholarship endowment and growing their ministry offerings to pastors. No one personally stands to make a dime. All funds received from sales are governed and controlled by their board of directors. Who happen to all be volunteers and none of them are getting wealthy off this either.
Seems to me, the person who posted the “THEY do not OWN it” comment, knows not of what he/she speaks, and would just like to keep the war drums beating. The rest of us are tired of your hearsay and gossip.

You end by saying that you are tired of the "hearsay and gossip". Yet you begin by reporting on what has been told you by people you "personally know and trust" - which I believe is the definition of hearsay.
Have you seen the audited financials of the ABA? Have you seen the board members' conflict of interest reports? Unless you have, you're just spreading hearsay and gossip too.
I'm not objecting to a little gossip and hearsay - keeps things interesting. Let's just all be clear about what it is that's going around this blog.
Sorry to disagree, but when one receives information from people directly involved in a situation, that's considered "first hand information" not hearsay or gossip. When you take factual first hand information and twist it into a distorted 2nd hand view; that becomes hearsay.
You bring up perfect examples of the starting of gossip and misinformation, when you insinuate their financials are out of order and that their board members have conflicts of interest. You have no factual basis for these comments. If you do, why not share the facts?
Innuendo and insinuation are so much better than facts. They leave room for possibilities, and creative imagination. What we call facts are usually anything but that anyway. Like you can believe anything you read in a newspaper or hear on tv news. For the most part, it's all propaganda. We hear what they want us to hear. I would rather live in a world of possibilities than a world of lies.
