Tree Removal

The city is going to start tree removal around town. They have marked the trees they feel will need to be removed. You should check soon before you they are gone or you have an issue with the ones chosen. The committee did conduct a public meeting for the tree removal but no one from the public showed up.

Where are these trees that are to be cut down? And why are they going to be removed? Are they diseased or does the city just need something to do?

Are the trees marked? There is nothing worse than cutting down a tree! Unless it is diseased or hollow they should be allowed to stand! Trees help with climate control by shading houses in the summer so that you don't have to turn on the air. They also keep the roads and pavement from putting more heat out into the air. So do we really have to cut them down?

I have seen quite a few trees marked in town, it will be sad to see them go but if they are dying then nothing can be done but to remove them. I am sure they will not take down anything that is healthy and thriving. I would hope they have had some professional input from the local arborist. The dying trees represent a safety hazard as they are more likely to fall during the storm season, taking down power lines etc.

Actually, with all due respect Chief, some people from the public did show up. 2 to be exact. It was surprising that no one else was there though, and now that Mirr is in charge who knows what will happen... probably nothing, since that seems to be the modus operandi of the new Mayor. I loved the way he patted himself on the back in the paper Friday after the flooding here in Green Lake. How he declared a State of Emergency at 5:00 on Friday... day late and a dollar short. Never any info on large trash pickup for all the damaged basement goods or any forethought... or should I say afterthought.... maybe that's just the way it is... no thoughts there at all??? Hummmmmmm....
