It's about time our incompetent County Board finally made a decision on this issue. What a joke to spend 10+ years debating the same issue just because of a small yet vocal group of naysayers. What's most amusing, though, is how many people in the Green Lake community don't even know what's happening out there.
Good point about how lots of people don't even know what's happening. I've noticed that too.
Maybe more people would know if the Green Lake Reporter had actually covered the decision. The County Board approved the new Justice Center in September. Later that week when the Green Lake Reporter came out, there wasn’t even a story about it. Absurd! It’s like the vote of the century never even happened, which explains why certain people are still in the dark.
The people complaining about the school spending $10,000 should really be PO'd by this one. Until Aaron Beckers article pointed out what was going on most people in the community didn't have a clue what was being built. Few were aware of the September meeting, and fewer were aware of the vote to build the $27,000,000 facility. Talk about not being transparent! One has to wonder if our county can afford such a large investment. Since Aaron has been with the Ripon Commonwealth I've made it a habit of purchasing it on a weekly basis to make sure I'm up to date on Green Lake happenings. Good job of reporting Aaron.
Give me a break - just because the GL Distorter didn't properly report on this story there are actually those in the the community who would have the audacity to claim they didn't know about the $27M 'Mcmonigal Hall of Justice' being built out on Cty Road A. Give me a break - how naive' are these folks. Everyone seems to know everyone else's business in this town yet this somehow slipped under the radar.
I have to agree that "news" typically reported in the GL paper isn't often newsworthy but people make it sound as though Aaron Becker is their sole source of information. If this is true then people are definitely doomed to a life of ignorant bliss...open your eyes and ears and be amazed at the information you can find out there...without having to buy the Ripon paper.
The problem isn’t that people are completely unaware about the new courthouse. The problem is, certain people don’t have all the facts because only one local paper has been reporting them. Sure, the GL Repeater has mentioned in passing that there’s a new county project going up, but that paper has never really taken the time to explain exactly what it entails or even what will happen to the downtown structure. People who read only the GL paper have an idea of what’s happening but not the full story. That's the problem.
That's exactly why more and more people are reading the Ripon paper these days. It explains what our "hometown paper" doesn't.
