By now all of you who are interested know the school ref did not pass. I found it interesting that only 19 percent of the state registered voters actually voted. Sad.
I wonder how many of you who bitch at each other on this blog actually get involved in community activities. Or is bitching on here your community activity. Do any of you volunteer at any of the community festivals? Are you on any public committees? Do you donate any money to the charities? Or is it just easier to complain on here.

Yes isn't that interesting.
Take that a bit further and conclude that of the 450-550 parents and siblings of students and 50-75 teachers, spouses, coaches of the district; how many did not vote or voted no?
I am hoping that people who do complain about anything are not among those who did not vote. Shame on anyone who did not vote on this referendum, no matter which way they felt.
VERY interesting TRUE thoughts, Chief! We volunteer some but always enjoy both school and city of GL events - and yes, that is where one finds the positive and upbeat, fun people. And you are right, the complainers do not participate, but they surely gripe about "all the people in town and god forbid they had to drive a little slower AND have to exert themselves to walk a few yards to their destination. . ..... regarding voters, a friend works at the polls and said lots of parents voted - and in previous referendums many registered to vote. I'm not sure how many of the GL teachers live in the area, but understand that all of the ones in our districts did vote.
I complain and volunteer. Of course, I consider my "complaining" as constructive criticism, meant to effect positive change. I figure that you can either be part of the problem or part of the solution. If you do not get actively involved in a matter that concerns you then you have no right to complain if you don't like the way things are.
Complaining is OK, but not when it is the kind of hurtful personal attacks that are common on this blog. Let's just discuss the issues on their merits.
AMEN!!!!
Good post Chief. I think by the limited responses, you've given many people a reason to pause and stop and think about themselves. We all could do more and we can all be better persons.
I do not know how to bring up a new subjsct: The wonderful Golden Days we were lucky to enjoy! The parade, car show, food, etc., was so will done!!!
Thanks you to all the folks who worked to make it such a splendid success!
Many teachers, spouses, coaches do not live in the Green Lake district.
