Harvest Fest

It was a the usual fun weekend. I heard there were more people this weekend than ever before. The book sale at the library was very successful. Tuscumbia won the waiters race. The car show was excellent. Loved the weekend.

Always the best weekend of the year! We enjoyed it very much (except for the bees!)

Congratulations to Ellen and Chamber of Commerce, and all of the hardworking volunteers everywhere who made this a great weekend for Green Lake.

I recall when Golden Days started and have enjoyed it over the years. This year it was bigger and better than ever, which is hard to believe. Novelties in the parade, car show still a huge success, lots of tasty food,& nice tables for meals. My only suggestion would be for more chairs along the pond to sit and watch Shoot the Bismark. THANKS!

Why do people bring their dogs to this event? Did the dogs enjoy themselves? I specifically remember the article in the Green Reporter that asked pet owners to leave the dogs at home!

Maybe they thought there would be in impromptu dog show.

Just a thought, couldn't the chamber or the city put up some sort of bee traps around downtown, for a few weeks before the next Harvest Fest? (We have a bee trap on our deck and it works great.) I just couldn't believe how many bees there were, everywhere. Some people are highly allergic. If they are thinking of ways to improve the festival, this is one that I would encourage them to consider.

In response to the dog question. Why do we let people in wheel chairs come? They get in the way! Why do they let children in! I trip over them!

I had NO difficulites with the dogs (there weren't many that I saw), wheel chairs, strollers, or kids! Just a little with bees! The weather was lovely and there were so many good folks there to enjoy the fun day! Let's appreciate what an asset and accomplisment this Golden Days was, a real blessing! THANKS! Next year: bee traps would help!

Here's how this would work much better:
IF YOU HAVE THE IDEA- YOU ARE IN CHARGE OF IMPLEMENTING IT
This would include finding resources, getting volunteers and actually making it happen.
"The Bee Brigade"-bee a part of the festivities- don't make more work for someone else.
It's a great idea- go for it!
