Who Remembers When You Could Drink All Night for a $1.50?

Who could forget Mary Jane and look at the phone number!

Love this!! Old Rib memorabilia- right???

This doesn't mean much to people that do not refrequent Adam's Rib or are non-drinkers. Let's get back to local issues like the election, city matters and school issues.

Speaking of school issues, check out Lindenwood's half page ad in the Ripon paper this week.

Why can't we have a little variety here? I like the different blogs! There are city matters and school issues on here already!

For the person who doesn't think this doesn't mean much for people who don't go to the Rib or non-drinkers. I think there are plenty of areas for you to discuss local politics. I put this up for a little fun outside of the other "stuff" that goes on here. I pretty much let all of you do what you want on here but let me remind you that ulitmately this is MY blog and I can put up what I want. Do you think the school issues or development issues mean everything to everyone? They don't. I also think a little historical perspective on the area is nice once in a while. So I WILL post what I choose. And you can bet you will be seeing more of this sort of thing.

Pretty lame, chief. Pretty lame.

I have some pictures of a WW1 German helmet with a spike, if that would help in your pursuit of interesting memorabilia?

Chief, you’re absolutely right that this is your blog and you can post what you want. But that kind of attitude comes with a price: fewer readers due to a loss of interest. I get the feeling your number of visitors has narrowed in the past few months. There’s nowhere near as many comments/responses here as there used to be. The best way to run a business or blog is listen to what people want and then work to provide it, not just say “This is what I want so deal with it.”

Your right Chief, it's your blog, Kick some Ass.
Alot of these people need to put down the computer, step away from the mouse, and get a friggin LIFE !! Hey here's a news flash: This one of a million blog's. If you don't like the content, change channels or start your own. Stop complaining about EVERYTHING!

With attitudes like this you see why Green Lake is in serious trouble.
We have HUGE problems facing us in 2009. Hopefully we can all keep our jobs and homes. I know of several local businesses going under this year. It may surprise everyone the ones that are giving up.

Thanks Chief for putting this up. I am a nondrinker, non-smoker, and LOVE the history of Green Lake. Even though I don't partake, I enjoy where I come from. You people need to get over it!

I worked here in the 50s and it's been great ever since. There are trees and park benches in place due to people that lived in this community with money raised from Adam's Rib, A.K.A. Spikes. How long have you been here? Doesn't really matter, we have roots!

If you don't enjoy this sort of history then don't comment on it. Have you heard the phrase "If you have anything nice to say then don't say anything at all." What happened to the golden rule?

I love the blog, I love spikes, and I love hearing the "old" stories of people that come in and say "I haven't been here since it was Spikes, what's new?" Maybe you should come in and have a soda to appreciate the people that support our community after all of these years.

When I moved to GL 30 some years ago, Spikes was the only place where I felt welcome.MaryJane and Danny were my "parents" and watched over me and many others! It was a place like Cheers was and you felt among friends. When Jean and Dennis came they changed the bar but not the atomosphere. It is still a place where you can go and feel that you have come home. The bar is filled with many wonderful memories of people and friends. Some have gone on but still are remembered. It will always be Spikes to me but I call it "The Rib" now.
P.S.
Yes, Chief I am a townie by now:)

That looks like a group of Green Lake Mariners (cerca 1950) if I ever saw one. See History of Beautiful GL pp. 314.
