Separation of church and state DOES NOT mean separation from God! My interpretation of God may be very different than yours, but your God is my God, and we are all God's children, whether some people want to behave or not. Crumbling God leads to crumbling societies that lead to crumbling families that produce adults and children that have lost or never known God. The sum of it all is a world growing shittier and more destructive every day.
Majority does not rule. The constitution and the other foundations of the US are expressly designed so the majorities do not override the basic freedoms of the minority. This is why when a majority of the people in the US were not for equal rights, the President and the Supreme Court moved to eliminate most of the barriers in law and practice to equal rights for African Americans.
In democracy, majority rules. When people vote (and minority have the right to vote), majority rules. The most votes wins the election.
When the republic portion of a democracy appropriately kicks in, it becomes about the "leaders" (elected by democratic vote to represent the people) who have the power to legislate and create amendments to Constitutional Law. These amendments are voted on among these "leaders", and the majority vote from these "leaders" wins - hence, a democracy among the "leaders", but a republic in this instance where the PEOPLE were concerned.
Generally, the Republicans want smaller government (less republic), but the Democrats want a bigger government (less democracy).
Dumb arses thought slavery was necessary and thought it was their right to steal freedom from others for their own benefit. There was a time when all thought the world was flat, and don't forget those that thought Zeus created thunder to punish someone(s). People are ignorant until they learn. Thank GOSH there were "leaders" that knew enough to oppose the "masses" and fight to change the only thing the "masses" knew or were willing to learn. We live and we learn, and STILL there are people abusing good faith laws to get what they want. Don't tell me even minorities are not a part of any "mass thinking" and aren't willing to abuse old/new laws to get what they want for themselves! And the pendulum keeps swinging back and forth, and back and forth...
Slavery and discrimination still exist in America. The laws are cleverly abused and we've come up with better arguments to support clever reasons why some people are better than others, and why some people deserve more or less than others. The deeper the flies get buried in the ointment, the more expensive it gets to extract and kill them, and the less people can afford to protect themselves, so little gets done in time to avoid the suffering and cruelty. Don't kid yourself.
Two siblings. The older one is bigger and smarter, for a time, and is able to manipulate, tease, and beat on the younger one. What happens when the younger one finally catches up and starts doing the same things to the other one, to "get back" and also because he has just as much right to appropriate behave like a child as the other child? Hurt, resentment, physical strength, mental power, lack of sensitivity out of ignorance, rebellion, etc. Emotionally driven, living in the moment chaos and words that can't be taken back once their said - constant fighting! More fighting than getting along. Who are the adults here anyway? Nations, civilizations, societies, and individuals are behaving like children! We need to wake up and grow up!
Want to teach our children to be better than we are? Adults better start setting a better example, by example, with higher standards. And stop trying to create child centered, child driven classrooms. And stop taking authority and/or GOD out of the equation. A house with no legs will not stand up, for any one or thing. No one is safe and all will suffer, one way or another.

They get racially based scholarships,free college education, special job opportunities even if they are not qualified, exclusive black groups and clubs, even black magazines, all based on skin color.
If there were scholarships for whites only, the liberals would scream their heads off. A magazine called "Ivory" featuring only whites? Right. Oprah can host all black functions and heap her praises on how much better blacks are than everyone else and if a white celebrity did that they would get decimated by the media. Racism is getting worse by the day in this country.
As far as slavery, the "new" slavery is the illegal Mexicans who should not be here in the first place and yet our government allows them to stay because somebody has to do the manual labor for cheap bucks. They get paid cash, don't pay taxes and use our emergency rooms for free medical care. Their gang members fill our prisons and cost us taxpayers hundreds of millions of dollars. And why don't we secure our borders and clean up this mess??? Because we are too busy bailing out banks, insurance companies, auto companies and building bridges for turtles so that the politicians can continue to line their pockets and Swiss bank accounts with more of our hard-earned money.
How is it that Charlie Rangel has millions in real estate and assets when he only earns $179,000 per year? Hmmm, I wonder. And the Democrats gave him a free ticket to keep riding even though he lied and cheated on his taxes. I hope they all get voted out next elections, a bunch of low-life crooks.

There are a minimum of 35 blatant lies incorporated into the movie that are being challenged, legally and scientifically, which show how bogus the whole concept is. These aren't liberal/conservative issues...these are scientific issues which were not only incorrectly portrayed, but were purposely skewed as to make the whole "Global Warming" premise more feasible/believable to the masses.

The SPPI is the brain child of Robert Ferguson. Ferguson's last venture was Frontiers of Freedom a "think tank" that was fully funded by Exxon to the tune of a cool $1mil up front and $50k a year there-after. Ferusson refuses to disclose who provides funding for SPPI. Before that he worked as a shill for Phillip Morris.
SPPI's main "scientific" source is a Dr. Claus-Martin Schulte, a British endocrinologist with no climate studies backround.
This group is a front for corporations interested in denying global climate change because it cuts into their profits.
Bottom line here is that no one has seriously refuted more than a few small points in the movie.

The problem is that most Americans are paying exorbitant premiums for health insurance that may or may not cover their needs. 70% of the bankruptcies in the US are due to medical reasons. Over half of those had health insurance. The last World Health Organization ranked the US 37th in the world for overall health care. Right behind Costa Rica. We were ranked 14th in preventable deaths. Behind Portugal. The fact is that every industrialized nation in the world has decided that the health of it's citizens is a national priority, except for one: the US.

In 2005, the US spent 15.4% of it's GDP for health care. Our neighbor to the north, Canada, spent 9.8%, more than a third less and Canada covers 100% of it's citizens. I have health coverage for my family which costs $12,000 a year, about $1000 per month. Family premiums in Canada average much less than $200 per month or $2000 per year. The poorest amoung us have the absolutely most expensive form of healthcare, our emergency rooms. A properly implemented single payer system similar to Medicare could save billions of dollars.
Over 100,000 people a year die in the US due to preventable causes. Isn't it time that we join the rest of the world and quit making a profit on the deaths of our own citizens?

Nothing is wrong with providing reasonable services to help others. It's when reasonable and unreasonable services are being demanded/legislated/dictated to help a few and HURT many others that is called SOCIALISM. A very fine, GLARING, line of discrimination that is being crossed under the guise of helping others. From the goodness of people's hearts doesn't exist anymore...it's about who can have more, without a care for who has nothing. We've watched many of the rich people getting away with this, so that the middle class status is almost non existent and it's just rich or poor. And now we're watching the "minorities" play the victim card to take what they want and think they deserve (without earning it) at any cost to anyone or anything that made this country GREAT (however imperfect it may be).
Oh..and let's not forget the millions of illegal immigrants pilfering and pillaging US villages and abusing the freedoms that Americans died to promote and maintain. They didn't know how to take care of their own home so now they're here to take yours. They'll vote for anyone giving them amnesty and catering to their whiney demands, and weaken this country to the point of devastation. Where will they go next when they realize their demands only resulted in the hatred directed at them AND the person they thought would help them could care less about them? Where will they go? It used to be that people were accepting of their social status, the division of classes, because most folks worked hard and had ambition to keep improving their lives. Now the lower income families believe that they should have all the things that the hard-working middle and upper classes have, TV's, computers, nice cars, clothes, jewelry, etc EVEN THOUGH THEY ARE NOT WILLING TO WORK FOR IT. We have become such a materialistic society. And yet the low income families continue to have babies that they have no means of supporting, buy cars and homes (thanks ACORN) that they simply cannot afford, max out credit cards on frivolous spending and then expect to be bailed out. There is no accountability. I knew a family that was on welfare and disability and lived in a trailer but they took the kids to Hawaii for Christmas! dmark, I'm all for fighting for equality and fighting against the little guy when there is abuse of power from the rich and resourceful. But distributing the wealth is NOT the way to do it.
The upper class worked hard for the things they had, but many times at the expense of those who had so much less, and did a little greasing and abusing along the way. Not all of those who are rich, but enough of them to corrupt the system.
Meanwhile, the poor decide they want the same type of materialistic wealth and, if crying victim long enough and loud enough (a little abusing of their own), they too can have the "wealth" they think they deserve and take it from those they'd watched have it "all" for so long, without working for it. Make others work for it, and work for you. It's not our laws that stink, it's people that stink and don't think the "downtrodden" and "minority" aren't turning the stench up TOP NOTCH, as one so often has to do to take what doesn't belong to them and get away with it.

I find it very ironic that the people who cannot afford health care can afford cigarettes, beer, designer jeans, purses and nice cars. They can pay to have their hair cut and highlighted every month. They eat out several times a week. They have big flat screen TV's in their living rooms. But they just can't scrape together enough money to pay for their medical costs. I have no sympathy for them.

If our government was truly concerned about children's health, they would be actively doing something to prevent childhood obesity, such as banning high fructose corn syrup and partially hydrogenated oils from the market. I don't see the feds going after McDonald's and Burger King. Juvenile diabetes is raging out of control. Parents are apathetic about their children's diets and overall health. Kids sit for hours on computers and in front of televisions. You never see kids playing outside any more, like when we were kids. More kids die riding their bikes to school than are dying from this flu. If you are worried about your kids, start buying and cooking healthy food for them and send them outside for some fresh air and exercise.

As flu's go, it is not an especially bad flu. The "regular" flu mutates all the time, that is why flu shots are a not only a waste of time and money, but they put toxins and foreign anti-bodies into your bloodstream to live there forever, causing damage. In regards to the H1N1 emrgency order, Take a look at this.
All but four states and three districs are reporting widespread influenza outbreaks. More importantly, look at the percentage of visits for ILI. Week 40 of 2008 (Oct) is higher than any time since Week 10 (March) of 2008. As you can see, Week 10 is traditionally a high point of ILI and Week 40 a low. This suggests that by the spring, this could be the worst flu year in a long time.
The emergency order allows hospitals to set up off-site clinics and helps to fast track vaccinations. This is a prudent responce to a possible nationwide health emergency.

Quite honestly, I couldn't care less whether any individual gets a H1N1 vaccination or not. The only advantage to me is that the more people who get vaccinated, the less likely that there may be disruptions in the economy and general society due to pandemic illness. As 58 year old man with no health issues, I'm in a low risk area and probably won't get one myself.

I saw a picture headlinining these "Obama" phones. It was of Michelle Obama serving food in a soup kitchen for the homeless or those on welfare. One of the homeless/welfare was the one taking her picture with his new "Obama" phone. Free soup comes with a free cell phone now. Does this make sense to anyone?

The wireless program was implemented in the fall of 2008 (Bush administration). It is set up by the FCC (Republican chairman) under revisions made after Katrina (Bush aministration). The company that supplies the phones is TracFone. TracFone has been a strong republican supporter with upper management people serving in the Bush administration and on the McCain presidential campaign.
As a note, it is not funded by tax revenue, but by the Universal Service Fund paid by telecoms.

Since she only works 3 days a week, this gas guzzling jet gets fueled and she flies home to California , cost to the taxpayers of about $60,000, one way! As Joe put it, ‘Unfortunately we have to pay to bring her back on Monday night.’ Cost to us another $60,000.
Folks, that is $480,000 per month and that is an annual cost to the taxpayers of $5,760,000. No wonder she complains about the cost of this war…it might cramp her style and she is styling, on my back and yours. I think of the military families in this country doing without and this woman, who heads up the most do-nothing Congress in the history of this country keeps fueling that jet while doing nothing.

Many, many, many (not all) smart men in politics do not like smart women (either in politics or those who can see their simple minded BS). But smart women DO NOT like other smart women! There is such little room being made for women, and women are made to work so much harder to prove themselves (it's like swimming up stream), you better believe a smart woman will do everything in her smart powers to make sure SHE is the omega and most loved by the male species. Women can be real bitches to get what they want; most of the time, I'd say rightfully so, but not in all cases. Where, exactly, did I blame Bush? Other posters claimed this was an Obama program and I pointed out that it wasn't. I was in no way "blaming" Bush for it. And you convenlently skipped over the part about it NOT being funded from the tax rolls.
While we're in the debunking mood, take a look at this entry from Snopes about the *Pelosi Jet Debacle*. As you can see, the use of AirForce planes was started for Denny Hastert after 9/11. As of March of this year, Pelosi had used the larger plane only once because the AF didn't have a smaller plane available. The plane request (by the House Sargent At Arms) was for a plane with a longer flying time, not a larger plane.
I really wasn't going to address this one because it's been debunked so many times elsewhere, but I couldn't help but notice how the post here is word for word from the viral email sent around.

In August administration officials promised 80 to 120 million H1N1 Swine flu doses would be ready by mid–October. Calling the plan an “aggressive response” designed to produce enough vaccine for every American who was feeling uneasy eating a strip of bacon.
Here it is mid–October and only 16.5 million doses have arrived. This is 14 percent of what was promised and is not even close enough for government work!
The new prediction is 150 million doses in December — just in time to protect “Winter Festival” Santas in shopping malls — and only two months after the “epidemic’s” peak.
Concerned that nine months of hype wasn’t producing the required level of frenzy, Obama went on the radio last Saturday and declared a national health emergency.
In Fairfax County, VA clinic lines started forming at 5:45 AM. In Maryland waits were up to 4.5 hours.
Who qualified for immunization was a moving target. On Saturday in Fairfax only pregnant women and children under three were eligible. Then the Flu Potentate ruled that 5–year–olds qualified and parents of children younger than 6 months.
In DC the rule was pregnant women and young people up to age 24. Parents older than 24 with infants were turned away. Then the collective mind changed and “caregivers” for children under 6 months and adults 25 – 64 with underlying conditions were added.
Finally in Maryland immunizations were limited to last names beginning with N thru Z who voted for Obama in both the primary AND general election.
So here you have it, a dry run for the Obama Administration’s performance on nationalized health care. All vast governmental forces were focused on a single disease rather than the entire gamut of America’s health care problems. There was no greedy, profit–riddled private sector in this fight, only the saintly public option. The program had universal coverage and no pre–existing condition exclusions.
The result? Missed deadlines, rationing, incompetence, blame–shifting, arbitrary decisions, random displays of authority and don’t forget: long lines.
There’s a word for this preview of socialized medicine under Obamacare.
