Christmas Tree at the Dam

How come the "Mary Jane" Christmas tree at the dam hasn't been lit at all. I hear rumors the mayor would like it to go away. Is that true?

Why don't you do something intelligent like call the mayor and ask him? Why ask the reader's of this blog, it just doesn't make sense. You may not trust the mayor, which is your choice to do so, but at least you would have some factual information to write.

What kind of mary jane are we talking about here?

I read the note and thought the same thing... what the heck is a "mary jane tree". Did MJ Bumby plant the thing?

for all of you too young to remember... adams rib was once known as spikes. i still call it spikes sometimes. anyway, spike and his wife sophie owned and worked the bar. then their son danny and his wife maryjane worked the bar. so the tree was planted after mj passed away. there were great times back then. mj and danny being our "surrogate" parents for those of us in need of a shoulder. anyway, that is some of the story...

Dear Anon at the top of the blog- If you feel that way why the heck do you bother getting on this? The blog is for expression of ideas and opinions. it isn't a newspaper with facts only. It even lets cranky people like you on here.

Thanks for the nice explanation of the Maryjane tree. I remember when Adam's Rib was Spikes, but I had never heard the story or new about the tree.
