4th of July Fireworks

Now that it is May I hope people are thinking a little ahead and will keep the Fireworks in mind. This is one thing I think everyone will agree on and we should all pitch in with even $5 or $10 dollars. They are tax deductable. Make checks out to the Green Lake Fund and send them to the Chamber of Commerce. Make sure you have the correct address or the post office won't know how to get them there of course and they will be sent back. Please try to support the fireworks. Is there any better Holiday than the 4th of July in Green Lake?

I agree that donating to the fireworks is a good idea because unfortunately the town the size of GL cannot afford to host them alone. But maybe something should be done to promote and increase donations, rather than just asking for it as they do year after year.

As an example, presently, if a person donates, they get fireworks compacted into the area just west of Dartford Bay, if the same holds for this year as last. This location in itself creates a very unsafe and focused display. Chief, have you been in your canoe on the lake after conclusion of the fireworks? It’s like Nascar in the dark on water. It’s all for one and one for all escaping the scene after the display, for whatever reasons……probably mostly due to human excretion needed urgencies.

From what I understand this display is assembled and delivered from/on a barge? Yes? If so, why are we confining the barge to one end of the lake or the other? Why do we not position that launching barge directly in the middle of the lake, like say somewhere between Sandstone and the ABA.

In doing this, and letting the donating people of GL know the position of said barge before hand while asking for the donations, may draw more donations due to the follow reasons.

1) Would make them visible completely unobstructed from 90% of all shoreline locations on the lake.
2) The lake property owners could donate more because of the more visible location, for those that cannot or wish to venture onto the lake that evening.
3) Boaters wishing to venture out onto the lake to see the display would now have a 360 degree parking lot versus a FUNNELED confined area.
4) It’s safer for the drifting hot particles and mis-fires which drift back to the earth’s surface not to cause a fire.
5) The previously mentioned Nascar post-display exit would allow for a 360 degree exit of racing boaters, thus creating greater distance and exit strategies between these boaters which in turn creates a safer environment to view and exit the display.

Some may say having them in Dartford Bay brings people into town, maybe, but I have seen a lot “coolers” that evening.

But again, that’s just my stupid opinion……………….

Dear Loves Deep Green Waters...I must say I do agree with some of your very good points but at this stage I am just trying to get people aware of the fact that the fireworks need support. As I have said in an earlier post on the fireworks I would like to see them raise enough money so they can have a surplus fund and have seed money for the next year. Starting at zero year after year seems a little foolish. I have a feeling the details of the fireworks will be a continuous issue and not everyone is going to be happy no matter what. I just think HAVING the fireworks is one thing everyone agrees on so I am trying to start there.
