Police Chief Retirement Party

There was a great retirement party for the Chief Huber last weekend. I hear the city paid for it.

So what who paid for it. I think people are bored with you Highknocker. Sure aren't any responses to your blog unless it's about the school

I believe the items on this Blog by Chief Highknocker are informative! Folks do not need to comment or argue about everything! Just knowing what is going on is important. This is spring time and everyone has lots of other things to do besides spend time on the computer that is not necessary!

This blog is popular because of the anonymous feature. It was slow going when that feature was removed. Happy to see it back. Now more responses.

I agree with the prior post. Who cares who paid for it. Word of advice Highknocker, if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say it at all. I believe that was taught in grade school and just shows how juvenile the blogs you put out there are.

I think the people of Green Lake should know that the city paid for it. Why not? It is our money.

I was at the retirement party, and there was a cash bar so at least the tax payers did not pay for alcohol. There was a buffet table that was anything but impressive. (The sandwiches were good, I will say that.) I doubt that this party cost more than a few hundred dollars. If it cost more than that, then we were ripped off. In the future, I do not believe that the taxpayers should have to fund any employee parties for any reason. This is not the role of taxes.

Thank you Joe for that report.

Here we go negative, again.

All this speculation - does anyone know FOR SURE who paid for the party? If not, you have no business spreading rumors. We heard 2 other very likely sources - neither the City.

Who really cares?
The man spent over 30 years working for an employer and gave us all dedicated service. He's not entitled to a party? Give me a break.

I am not Joe. If some of you folks only want to hear happy, fuzzy, wonderful fluff, then go watch re-runs of Sesame Street or Mr. Rogers or something. This discussion is for the grown-ups, most of whom know how to discuss issues intelligently and rationally and look at them from all perspectives. If you can't take the heat, stay off of the blog.

What angers me more than the city spending our tax dollars on parties is the fact that they are now paying $1000 to repair the coating on the bridge by Harbor Lights. The textured coating, which was first applied several years ago didn't even last a year. It has already been repaired several times. Either it is an inferior product or it was applied incorrectly. The work SHOULD HAVE BEEN GUARANTEED and therefore repaired or replaced for FREE. Who on the city council is making these piss-poor decisions, or did the mayor and Glen McCarty simply decide once again to spend our tax money foolishly? Was this decision approved by the city council? Why would anyone pay the same guy who did this work to come back and fix his own shoddy work? This needs to be looked into.I WANT ANSWERS!

That is that crappy epoxy coating stuff. Costs a fortune and never lasts. They put that stuff on the shower floors at the campgrounds. It too is peeling up. It will not hold up to the elements and water. Joe's buddy puts that stuff in.

So did the city council approve this spending, does anyone know? For the taxpayers to continue to spend their hard earned money on this does not make sense to me. The bridge was not a problem until that coating was applied.

Citizens of Green Lake go to a council meeting and see how the bills are paid. One motion pays all. No breakdown is given.

Citizens of Green Lake go to a council meeting and ask about the process or lack there of, for selecting the new police chief. Barney will be sworn in.

They need to televise these city council meetings so we can watch this and have a record of it. They have been talking about this for years and of course nothing has happened. Other cities do it, it's not that difficult or expensive.

You would have to do it for them. They still use a cassette player from 1978 to record meetings and no one knows how to operate it. The clock in the council room stopped working (dead battery) no one could fix it so they bought a new smaller (need magnifying glass to read) clock. It is not a real city council. It is a bad version of the retired Deluxe Trailer Park homeowners association.

If you who are complaining that you don't know what is going on with the City Council, you can't get out of your chair, away from your computer and actually get involved and go to the meetings... then you shouldn't be complaining about what's going on in your city.

Some of us WORK all day and then go home to our families where more WORK is required. Not everyone is Green Lake is retired. I am anything but lazy.

Please check on your elderly friends and neighbors to make sure that they are okay during this heat wave. Thank you.

Most people do work, but those who really care about what's going on in the city go to the city meetings because they are after most people get home from work... maybe you should check your priorities if you really care!

MAYBE they could televise the meetings, like thousands of other cities do. This way, there would also be a recorded history of the meetings. It makes perfect sense, is not expensive or difficult, and is an excellent public service. All of this time, energy and money that is going to "revive" Green Lake, and you can't get the most basic things like this. WHY NOT?

Does anyone know how the student who overdosed at GL school is doing? Heard he/she was flown to a Madison hospital.
