The Roads Look Great!

After the that unbelievable bluster, wind and cold last night I can't believe how quickly the city and county have cleared the roads. They look great. Nice work gentlemen. Thanks.

you gotta be kidding right? They're a fricken disgrace, as always.

Give them a break. I heard on the news that the plows were pulled off the roads during the night in Green Lake County due to white-out conditions. Salt doesn't work as well either, during such cold weather.

For those of you who think our streets are not good, ride around some surrounding cities like Ripon and you will appreciate our Public Works department. Way to go Green Lake employees!

The fact is that the city streets usually have a layer of compacted snow on them (after being plowed) which makes them slippery for pedestrians. I realize that we have had a lot of snow this winter and it is near impossible to scrape it all off the street. Lately it's been too cold for salt to melt the ice effectively. Yet I noticed on Sunday that our city streets were still snow covered and slick when the area highways were dry as a bone.

YOU should see the side streets in Chicago!!! It is a real problem to try to park in crowded snow density places people usually can park that have just piled up unplowed.

I am sorry I put "Chicago" on your blog. I'm out of here.

Once again I had to dig out my mailbox! I live on the line between the city and the township and get the worst of two worlds! The city won't plow in front of me and the township starts after my driveway. I pay taxes to both and I don't get either one to do anything!

Dear Anonymous,

It is not anyone's job but yours to clean your mailbox area. Get a life!

I did not say that it wasn't my job to clean in front of my mailbox. If you would have read it right, you would understand that there is a gray area where neither the city nor the township plows.
