Harvest Fest

I am looking forward to Harvest Fest this weekend. It has always been my favorite weekend in town.

I agree, it is the best festival that Green Lake has all year. The chamber should be commended for their hard work and success. Let's hope it doesn't rain this weekend!

I hope it rains. Harvest fest is just another event for the G. L. click to stoke themselves. The nice honest people that show up to partake just stand around and wonder where is everything and what is there to do.

Ok, great. Now can we talk about the school referendum? Has anybody a clue as to how much it will cost homeowners?

Curious said...

... The reason I ask is because we have two papers that cover that school, and I read two greatly different answers last week.

curious seems to have an agenda, I just can't figure out what it is...?

My agenda is getting some answers on this funding issue.

...from a thread titled "Harverst[sic] Fest"?....
why not let us bumpkins enjoy our pumpkins.
Beat it.

Oh, well, a thousand pardons please for disrupting your reflections on pumpkins, but you see this entire community is talking about the referendum, and I would find it grand for people in Green Lake to actually be informed about something for a change … After all, the referendum regards the future of our school and children, not to mention our taxes. It’s a tremendously important and relevant topic, but now I see it’s not nearly as important as pumpkins.

try selling that to a pumpkin farmer...

Oh great! Scrooge showed up early for Harvest Fest in the guise of crabby appleton! HF is a great time for all involved -kids can play, people can shop.eat drink- should I go on? My family makes one of their vacations around this week-end. What GL click? Have you been drinking some of your fermented crab apples? This event is well organized and I must say kudos to the Chamber and ALL its members! The parade is great and even though it may rain let us hope it is on YOUR parade!Viva Harvest Fest!!

Has anyone had any close encounters with greatness in or around Green Lake. I ran into Michael Rooker (supporting actor in many big movies) at the K-mart in Ripon a couple years ago. He was with a large group of people and a caravan of vehicles. I was afraid to bug him because he was with his daughter I believe. I wondered why he would be in the area. I googled him to find out he was born in Chicago, so I wonder if his family was familiar with Green Lake. The same thing with Spencer Tracy, and Harrison Ford as to why they went to Ripon College. Their families may have spent time on Green Lake.

Hey Curious:

If you're still curious, school board meetings are held the 2nd Wednesday of every month at 7:00 in the school library.

RIchard I know this is off subject but...

Barry Alvarez loves to eat at Grey Rock. My friend saw "The Fridge" (former Chicago Bear) at KMart once.

Lots love to come to the Green Lake area for various reasons.

Crabby Appleton should just f*ck off if he doesn't like GL or Harvest Fest...we don't want him in our town anyways :)

Yeah, beat it crabby...

Who is Barry Alvarez?

Michael Rookers mother-in-law has a place in Princeton. I won't say where because I am sure he values his privacy. He is around pretty regularly. There are several celebrities around here. They generally have some sort connection to the area.

who is michael rooker??

Seriously...who asked who Barry Alvarez is? Are you kidding? He was head coach of the WI Badgers for 13 years...only the winningest coach in school history. Ever heard of the Rose Bowl?

Head coach of the Badgers, and that qualifies him as a "celebrity"?
Explain that to me.
Aren't the Badgers one up from a bar team?

Who is Michael Rooker?

I wouldn't say Michael Rooker is really "famous" but he is a constantly working actor. He grew up in Chicago. The one credit that springs to mind is Sea of Love with Al Pacino. It was several years ago now.

Michael Rooker was also in Days of Thunder with Tom Cruise

There is also a soap star, Nancy Lee Grahn, from General Hospital. She is very nice....

Since when has there been a Harvest "Prince?"

I have never heard of a "harvest prince" either. I would rather there was a "harvest hunk" farmer with rippling abs and biceps as big as pumpkins. and don't forget the zucchini!
